Charlie Does the Bahamas

 Two posts in two days!!!

Our grandson, Charlie took his first airplane trip last year and went to Nassau.  When my Paper Crafts Club decided to do an Album Tin, I thought that would be a great way to showcase Charlie's Adventures.

The photo of the cover didn't come out very well, but you'll get the general idea.  The entire album was embellished with epoxy stickers and the cover front background scenery was done using linen cardstock and I-Kandee chalks by Pebbles

Here are some photos of the inside.  As you can see, Charlie really enjoyed his first trip.

Until next time!

Chipboard Suitcases

Hi all
Today, I thought I'd share a fun project that my club did a while ago using Chipboard Suitcases from Stampin' Up.  They've been discontinued, but it was a great project.  You may be able to find them around somewhere else.   I got carried away with them and made several with matching sets of cards to go in them.  All the chipboard pieces were painted with acrylic paints before covering them with DP.

The first one was using stickers for the front of the "suitcase" and Penny Black & Whipper Snapper stamps for the individual puppy cards.

For this one, I chose a K & Company Dimensional sticker et for the outside and the cards for a coordinated set using buttons and pearls for accents.

Another set using K & Company dimensional stickers, Prima flowers, lace and rhinestones.  I found the gorgeous DP at my local scrapbook store, but they only had one sheet left and it was never to be seen again!  I'd love to have more of that!

Used various stamp images for this set and the flower was made using a retired Spellbinders Blossom die and a brown paper bag.  The finished flower was spritzed with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels

.
Last, but not least....  this one was very simple.  Letting the beautiful DP do all the work with the addition of a few rhinestones.  Added some Prima flowers to the front and some beautiful ribbon from May Arts.

Hope you enjoyed this fun little project.

Brenda Smalle  ***** You are here :)

We all have different ideas on the Flower Child theme, but since I came of  "age" in the late 60s/early 70s -  Flower Child has that 70s feeling for me.  I moved to NYC in '69 and spent a lot of time in Greenwich Village and a few weekends in San Francisco too.  Some friends went to Woodstock, but I was too new to NYC to brave that LOL.   I hope you enjoy this first card and reminisce about the Peace - Love - Rock N Roll era and my generation.

Most of the images from this card are from Sparkle N Sprinkle Stamp Set 455 Surf's Up.   The little girl is Tomboy Becca from Set 412 - Daddy's Little Girl and I added the FLOWER POWER  "ricky ticky flowers" - you remember those from the 70s LOL - to the VW Van (or micro mini bus to the older generation) using the Daisy Background from Set 411 - Just Like Mommy.    The peace symbol band was created by stamping the image randomly - coloring with Copics - patting Versamark ink all over it and then embossing it with Sparkle embossing powder.  Becca's shirt & head and then again the flower were layered as 3-D.  Lots of dimensionals, glitter & glossy accents were used.

Here are some close-ups:

Hope I was able to bring back some fun memories for you!
I certainly brought back some for myself!!!

For my second card, I decided to stick with children and flowers together, but went in a different direction for this Z-fold baby card.

For this one, I used Bailey in Diapers from Stamp Set 380 - Baby Bailey and Welcome Little One from Set 381 - Baby Brooke along with the Lolly Dot Flowers from Set 397 - Lolly Garden.
The Lolly Dot Flowers were embossed using Sparkle N Sprinkle's Kiwi Fruit EP401, Melon Twist EP402 and Jamaican Dream EP403 and cut out using a scalloped round punch.
Bailey was colored with Copics and cut out using Spellbinder's Lacey Circles Dies and then mounted on a teal cardstock piece cut out with the Spellbinder's Blossom Die.  To keep it closed, I made a tab with a Label punch and added a magnet under the tab and under the opposing flower.

Here are some other views:

I hope you've enjoyed my little foray into the Flower Child generation!

I'm the end of the line........  don't forget to comment on each designer's blog - they cherish each and every comment that you make....  who knows!  You could win a prize - it's that simple.

If you've seen anything that you can't live without or you just want to check out what other neat things they have,  then check back to the Sparkle N Sprinkle on-line store.  You'll find all sorts of fun items there and lots more inspiration in the gallery too.

PEACE

ZVA Creative Blog Hop WIN!!!

I decided a couple of weeks ago to do a blog hop  since I had some free time. (I hadn't done many - mostly the Spellbinder Reveals for a few years).    I looked at the results later and was  planning on my usual "sigh" for not winning anything once again. Much to my amazement - there was my name! I WON!!! I received my FABULOUS loot from ZVA Creative today and I can't wait to play with all my new "bling". If you haven't seen them before, check out their website. Saw them at CHA and they have simply gorgeous crystals and pearls and lots of fabulous colors!

SMASH Book

You may have heard of Smash Books - you can find them everywhere and they're fun!   My sister, Lynn, brought 3 of them to CHA in Jan with her - one for each of us.  We spent our last night working on them until 1:30am!   They obviously are NOT meant to be closed LOL.
We put many of our make & take items in there along with other ephemera we found along the way and collected some autographs too.  It was a nice "scrapbook" of our days at CHA.
We've decided that they would be fun to do on a cruise too!
Here are a few glimpses of my Smash Book!  Hope you enjoy.

Wart's Up???

I know - two posts in one week! What's the world coming to LOL. Just got this cute little Rubbernecker Frog at the Mesa Stamp Convention this weekend. My first thought was to use one of the fun new "wobbles" on his head, but it turns out - his head's too small for that :( Oh well - better luck next time. Anyway - he's a cute little guy. I used my Copics to color him and made his head and the water lily 3-D with dimensionals intead of the wobbles. A couple of google eyes and he was ready to rock.

Wart's Up???

Here's a close-up. Hope you enjoy :) x_3c0269f7">

Treasure Hunt

Sparkle N Sprinkle is in the midst of a fabulous Treasure Hunt!!!   In honor of participating in this multi-store "hunt" - they've created two fun stamp sets.

I finally had a few minutes to "play" today and decided to create my own Treasure Hunt card.   I decided on a Step- Card.  See the SNS Tips & Techniques section for full details on the base card.
My designer paper was from the DCWV Tradewinds series.  I added my bling with ZVA Creative's "jewels" and Sparkle N Sprinkle Glitters.  I used my trusty Copic Markers for coloring.

 Here's a close-up of the "jewels".

Hope you enjoyed this little Treasure Hunt!

Liebster Blog Award

What a fun surprise my Sparkle N Sprinkle Design Team Sparklette has gifted to me!!  Thank you so much, Karalee for thinking of me!   Please check out Karalee's Blog - she does fabulous things there!!!

What is the Liebster Award??

A Liebster Blog Award is given to talented bloggers who have less than 200 followers. “Liebster” is a German word that means “Dearest” or “Beloved.” It also means ” Favorite .” So, in a way the award not only recognizes these bloggers as amazingly gifted in their own right but also as your very own personal favorites.

Receiving the award involves a small chain reaction of ensuing kindnesses.
The Rules are:
1) pass the award onto five inspirational bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers.
2) add a comment to their blog so they are aware the award is being given.
3) link back to the special person gifting me with the award.
4) enjoy the Award!

Only 5? Wow, it's really hard to choose.  Plus they have to have less than 200 followers!!!   Since many of my Design Team Sparklettes have already received this award, please know that you are all first in my heart!     I'm awarding these 5 ladies the Liebster Award:

Julie Zippel   -  Back to Basics & Beyond

Shanna Shands  -  SCS Designs

Patti White  -  I Live For Glitter

Lana Clarke  -  Sweet Peas Paper Creations     (I know she doesn't meet the criteria exactly as she has many followers, but she's in need of a little "love" right now and prayers for her family.

Joan Petty  -  stampinslippers-lakeslady
